Sheltie Rescue of Central Indiana

Sophia is a very active and sweet girl. She loves to play with toys and will run around the house and yard squeaking any toy she grabs to try to get her foster fur siblings to chase her. She will play fetch with a ball or a frisbee but isn't so great at bringing it back to you, she likes to run past while side eyeing you to see if you'll chase her to get it back. She will eventually drop it though so you can throw it again. Sophia is an alpha so she MUST be the only dog in the home. She is not a dogs dog but a people dog so being the only pup in her forever home is non-negotiable.

She is very friendly and social with people, does well with kids, other dogs and cats. She is housebroken and crate trained. She does not bark or whine to let you know when she needs to go out but she will pace and circle at the door. We have a doggie door and she will use it as she needs to. She takes treats gently and loves to curl up at the foot of her human's bed at night and sometimes will snuggle up to her human before heading to the foot of the bed. She also likes to curl up on the couch with her human while watching TV at night.

Sophia does ok on a leash but gets super excited during walks and pulls. We are in the process of getting her a walking harness to train her to heel. She is a strong willed girl who would benefit from a training or agility class with her human, she easily clears baby gates. She's smart and fast.

Sophia is also a runner. She will dash out a door before you realize she's there, she will stay if you tell her to before opening an exterior door but must be told to stay each time. Because of this she requires a fenced yard at her forever home.
