He is smart, loves to play, minds his manners and quickly adjusted, is not too pushy. He is an all around good boy. He has decided that he loves cottage cheese.

Buddy is a 5 year old sheltie that got too tall and too fat. He is on a strict diet, he weighed 71 lbs when he first came into rescue and he has lost at least 5 lbs thus far.

Buddy is a woobie boy, he loves his woobies, and loves to play. He like cats and tries to get our cat to play all the time. He loves kids, but you have to watch him because he is so big he will accidentally knock little ones and sometimes big ones down. He never bites and he has learned to share his woobies with the other dogs. The blind Sheltie in his foster home will actually beat him up if he gets in his way, well sort of beat him up.

He has learned manners and how to sit and wait for his dinner, and not get too pushy for treats. He was in a lot of pain because of his joints when we first got him, but is really much better. Buddy was an only dog so his transition to a multi dog family (3 Shelties, 1 Collie and 1 Black Lab has been very good.

Buddy knows how to heel and though he is just learning to walk further, he will benefit from long walks or more playing in the back yard. He does not appear to be too afraid of loud noises, tractors, guns, trucks, etc.

Hi, my name is Sydney and I am looking for a forever home.  This nice lady came to get me from my home and took me somewhere else for a while and then to the vet to find out how healthy I am.  Then the nice lady took me to another nice lady and left me there.  My foster Mom has 2 other doggies that look like me and that made me happy that I have someone to play with.  It took me a little bit to get used to the foster Mom but I feel right at home now.  The vet said I needed to lose weight so I am not getting very much food.  I don’t mind it too much because one of the other dogs keeps me pretty busy.  Whew, I never knew that I would be this busy keeping up with another dog!  I had to leave my Foster Mom for a day and go to the vet again and get a dental.  She said it was a little over a week after I had been to the vet before and I was such a good doggie because I lost 1½ pounds!

I now have a back yard.  I didn’t know what that was before because my Mommy and Daddy took me on walks instead of letting me run in a yard.  I am trained to walk with a leash though so that makes me special.  My foster Mom also has this little door just for doggies to go in and out whenever they want.  I really like that now because I can run out when she leaves to say bye-bye and go back in once she is gone.

I am housebroken (whatever that means).  My foster Mom says I’m a sweet, affectionate, well behaved big dog.  She has had to learn that I can shake either of my paws and that I wait until I’m told “OK” before I will touch my dinner.  It’s not the same with the treats I get though.  I’m waiting for those with baited breath and she feeds those to me by hand.  She says I’m a good doggie because I make sure I don’t bite her hand when she gives me those treats.

One thing my foster Mom doesn’t understand is that I like to bark at cars when they go by even if they’re way far away.  As long as I see a car moving out there I need to bark at it.  She says it’s OK because I’m getting a lot of exercise doing it since I run through the house and rush out “my” door to the back fence and then run to the other side of the yard when I see a car on that street.  Hey, maybe that’s why I like taking naps!

Well, my foster Mom says that I should find a forever home soon because I’m the bestest dog.  The world needs more dogs like me!

Bye for now.

Buddy is doing well on his diet and has lost another 5 pounds. Buddy is walking 2 miles every other day and though he is tired at the end of the walk, he does really well and he enjoys it too. Buddy has never had an accident in the house and he really loves to play with our cat. They both go after each other and it is funny to watch. Buddy really needs someone to play with and we hope he finds a forever home soon. We really cannot find a single fault with Buddy other than his weight (which is coming off with diet and exercise) and he is sometime stubborn when we call him to go outside
