Welcome to Sheltie Rescue of Central Indiana, Inc. ( SRCI ). We are a tax exempt, non-profit corporation consisting of a small number of hard working volunteers who are dedicated to caring for and placing Shetland Sheepdogs into permanent and loving homes. Since 1994, over 850 Shelties have been received into our foster care program. Most of our Shelties come from Indiana and are fostered and adopted within the state. If you live outside of Indiana, please visit "Other Rescue Links" on the tab to the left to find an organization in your area.

PLEASE HELP SADIE!

Sadie is a petite, 12 year old female who came to SRCI from a Humane Society in central Indiana.  They felt her age made her unadoptable.  When she was taken to the vet for a checkup, it was determined she was not spayed, had some lumps on her chest and badly needed a dental.  These surgeries were performed, and she needs additional surgery to remove lumps on the left side of her chest.  This couldn't be done during the first surgery because there wasn't enough skin to close all the incisions.  Unfortunately, the lumps turned out to be cancer, but the vet feels that with the additional surgery, she will live for another year or so.

Sadie is a sweet, lovable girl, with a sparkling personality.  While she is recovering from her surgery, she is playing with the dogs in her foster home.  People who met Sadie at Bella's Dog Bakery could not believe she is as old as she is, since she is a very active girl.  She was on her feet almost the entire 3 hours she was there and was friendly to everyone.  Sadie will talk to you, if you start the conversation.  She is a delightful girl, who is enjoying her life and we would like to make that life as long as possible by having the additional surgery done.

If you would like to contribute to the cost of Sadie's surgeries, please use the Paypal button on the left or mail a check to SRCI, PO Box 199046, Indianapolis, IN  46219.

NOTE:  Female dogs who are not spayed are prone to breast cancer.  If Sadie had been spayed as a puppy, she would not have this particular cancer.
